Acute localized inflammation of the outer ear

• The most common causative agent is Staphylococcus aureus

Acute disseminated otitis externa (swimmer's ear)

• The most common causative agent is P. aeruginosa
• Pain and edema
• Ear pain, itching, canal edema, canal erythema, runny nose and discharge in the outer ear canal

Malignant or necrotic otitis externa

• The most common causative agent is P. aeruginosa
• It usually affects the elderly, diabetics and patients with immunosuppression
• Spreads to deeper tissues, leading to osteomyelitis, base of the skull, meningitis, and brain abscess
• It progresses gradually and is a killer.

Fungal otitis externa (otomycosis)

• The most common causative fungi is Aspergillus (Aspergillus).

Bullous Tympanicitis

• It is characterized by the presence of bubbles in the membrane after the story of the upper respiratory tract infection
• Mycoplasma pneumoniae is important, although viral agents are the most common.
• Patient with cough and earache.
