    The biggest difference from Bell's palsy is that it is associated with VZV.
    There are painful vesicles on the external auditory canal, auricle, face and mouth due to VZV infection.
    There may be accompanying cranial nerve findings as in Bell's palsy
    Systemic steroids and antiviral drugs are given in the treatment.
    Topical steroid use is given because it reduces postherpetic neuralgia. Topical steroids have no place in Bell's palsy.
