Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors

General information
• Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) develop from enterochromaffin or "Kulchitsky" cells.
• Generally, the most important test in the diagnosis of NETs is chromogranin A level.
• High level is also associated with prognosis and is used in treatment follow-up.

Insulinoma

• It is mentioned in detail in the "Endocrinology - Hypoglycemia" section.
gastrinoma
• It is mentioned in detail in the section "Gastroenterology - Diseases of the stomach and duodenum".

Glucagonoma

• Pancreatic islets originate from alpha cells.
• It progresses with hyperglycemia, diabetes mellitus and hypoaminoacidemia.
• It is associated with necrolytic migratory erythema.
• The diagnosis is made when the glucagon level is above 1000 pg/ml.
• Treatment is surgical, if not possible, octreotide can be given.

Somatostatinoma

• Pancreatic islets originate from delta cells.
• It gives clinics with the classic triad of diabetes mellitus, steatorrhea, cholelithiasis.

Vipoma

• It is characterized by watery diarrhea, hypokalemia, hypo/achlorhydria.
