Cerebral Vascular Malformations CVM

Arterio-Venous Malformation (AVM)

It is the most common cerebral malformation.

Those in the anterior circulation are most commonly located in the middle cerebral artery distribution.

The higher the number of bleeding, the higher the mortality.

Clinic

• It usually occurs with bleeding, rarely epilepsy.

• Bleeding (intracerebral, subarachnoid, intraventricular)

• Hydrocephalus

• Pseudotumor cerebri

• High-output heart failure may be seen in neonatals.

Veno Angiomas

0 Disease of only the veins or sinuses without an arterial component.

Cavernomas (Capillary Angiomas)

Very small, often calcified.

Similar to oligodendroglioma.

Capillary Telangiectasia

0 It is a very small vascular malformation.

0 They are usually located around the 4th ventricle and pons.

It is the most common cause of pons bleeding.

0 Diagnosis is made by histopathological examination of surgical specimens.

Vein of Galen Aneurysm

0 arteries enter directly into the vein of galena, causing aneurysmal dilatation.

0 This situation occurs in the neonatal period.

0 High-pulse cardiac failure,

0 Obstructive hydrocephalus,

0 May cause subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Carotid-Cavernous Fistula

0 It is the formation of a fistula between the internal carotid artery and the cavernous sinus after head trauma.

0 According to cavernous sinus thrombosis, the clinic develops acutely.

At your clinic

• Pulsatile exophthalmos and murmur

• Prominent facial veins

• Periorbital edema and conjunctival congestion

• Papilledema, retinal hemorrhage, lens and corneal opacities, optic atrophy, vision defect

• ophthalmoplegia
