Asymptomatic Bacteriuria (ABU)

·• Asymptomatic bacteriuria during pregnancy may progress to pyelonephritis with a higher rate (20-30%) compared to non-pregnant women. E.coli is the most common causative agent.


Acute Pyelonephritis

• Urosepsis is the most common cause of septic shock during pregnancy. Factors; Escherichia cali (75-80%), Klebsiella pneumoniae (10%), Enterobacter and Proteus (10%).

Chronic renal failure

• Pregnancy outcomes depend on renal functions and the presence and severity of hypertension. The degree of proteinuria does not correlate with pregnancy outcomes.
