Vocal Cord Paralysis
• The most common cause is recurrent nerve injury during thyroid surgery.
• Hoarseness occurs in unilateral paralysis.
• There is no hoarseness in bilateral paralysis. Respiratory distress occurs.
• Unilateral vocal fold paralysis is more common on the left.
• Left recurrent nerve paralysis is caused by neck masses and lung pathologies.
• "Vocal cord" to increase the quality of the voice in unilateral paralysis medialization is done.
• To correct respiratory distress in bilateral vocal cord paralysis "vocal cord lateralization" is performed.
• This space forms the superficial lamina propria.
• Typically, edema in this space causes a deepening of the voice in smokers.
• Treatment: After making sure that smoking is stopped, it is surgery if necessary.

Reinke's Edema
• Reinke's space, the potential space between the vocal ligament and the vocal muscle.• This space forms the superficial lamina propria.
• Typically, edema in this space causes a deepening of the voice in smokers.
• Treatment: After making sure that smoking is stopped, it is surgery if necessary.
