Peritonsillar Abscess

The most common agents are beta hemolytic streptococci, pneumococci and anaerobes.
Trismus and voice change (hot potato voice) happens.
Tonsillectomy should be performed because of the risk of recurrence.

Retropharyngeal Abscess

It spreads to the mediastinum and retroperitoneal region.
Trismus is not seen.

Parapharyngeal Abscess

It most commonly occurs after tonsillitis and tooth infection.
There is trismus.
