Pancreatic Cysts

• The most common (30-40%) of the cystic lesions of the pancreas are non-neoplastic pseudocysts, often occurring as a complication of acute or chronic pancreatitis.
Neoplastic cysts consist of serous and mucinous cysts. Mucinous cysts are more common and have a higher malignant potential.
EUS is the most valuable method in the diagnosis of pancreatic cysts. It is examined by taking the cyst fluid with fine needle aspiration accompanied by EUS.
The most helpful test in the diagnosis of mucinous cyst alone is the cyst fluid CEA level.
